- It does not replace mature prepress, RAW workflow, DAM or large-team design systems. Opening RAW is not equivalent to camera profiles, lens databases, batch development and non-destructive history; critical RAWs need a dedicated processor. Installation steps
- PixelStyle Photo Editor 4.5.1 requires macOS 10.13 or later, runs natively on Apple silicon, and also supports 64-bit Intel Macs. Duplicate originals, create a layered PixelStyle master, and define pixel dimensions, resolution, sRGB/other profile, transparency and bit depth for the destination. Separate crop, white balance, exposure, curves/levels, healing, cutout, effects and output sharpening; retain masks and editable text rather than flattening early. Test AI segmentation/background removal and 4× enlargement on hair, transparent objects, product edges, small type and texture, then inspect at 100%/200% for halos, broken edges, repeated texture and invented detail. Export small proofs to WebP, PNG, TIFF, PDF/SVG and GIF and verify alpha, animation, colour, type and the receiving app. Vet GMIC/external filters and run them on copies. Use frequent saves and versioned duplicates for long projects.
Uninstallation steps
- Before removal, preserve original photos, the fully layered/masked/editable-text project, linked assets, custom brushes, gradients, textures, fonts/licences, GMIC/plugin list and final deliveries. Save a flattened preview plus suitable 16-bit TIFF/PNG, PDF/SVG or WebP/JPEG outputs and open them in an independent app to inspect transparency, colour, dimensions, text and compositing. Record canvas, profile, filter settings, AI processing steps, font versions, export options and SHA-256; keep the original and hand-refined mask beside AI results. Never retain only an exported JPEG or treat an upscaled image as an original high-resolution source. Back up custom support assets and restore them in a clean account before removing the app/cache; uninstall external plugins separately and retain licence records.
Common errors and fixes
- Crash on macOS 10.15: confirm 4.5.1, which specifically fixes this issue; if it persists, disable third-party filters, reset preferences and reproduce with a small RGB file. White/missing AI cutout edges require more context/contrast and manual brush refinement of hair and translucency. Invented texture after 4× enlargement requires reducing stacked sharpening/denoise and comparing ordinary bicubic scaling; AI cannot recover absent text/detail. For WebP transparency/colour, inspect alpha and sRGB and confirm the receiver supports WebP alpha/profiles, then verify in a browser. SVG/PDF may rasterise effects or substitute text/blends; keep the source and an embedded/outlined-font copy. Slow or failed large layered saves require removing unused hidden layers, reducing history, ensuring scratch space and versioned saves. RAW opening is not full camera-development control; convert critical RAWs to 16-bit TIFF in a dedicated processor first.
