PhotosBlender is an app for combining photos horizontally or vertically using gradient blending at the seams where they are joined. If the result is not what you expected, double check that the
size
and resolution of the images are similar. PhotosBlender will “trim” the result to match the width and or height of the smallest photo. If you want to create “arrays” of blended photos simply blend your photos horizontally first, saving each result, and then blend these results vertically. In other words, you can blend your blends!

Choose PTGui or Lightroom for real panoramas, and Photoshop, Affinity Photo or Pixelmator Pro for editable masks/layers.

- Its focused workflow quickly creates banners, before/after comparisons, sequences and simple grids. A zero-width margin makes a hard join, while wider overlap produces a gradual transition; horizontally blended rows can be blended vertically into 2D arrays. File and clipboard output fit presentations, documents and downstream editors. The app is small, and its App Store privacy label states that no data is collected.
Cons
- It is not a panorama stitcher or full editor: it does not find control points, correct perspective/lens distortion, match exposure, mask moving subjects or preserve editable layers. Unequal images are trimmed to the smallest, with limited canvas and per-image placement control. Re-blending blends accumulates resampling and softness. Flattened output means order/overlap changes require rebuilding. The channel Intel build depends on Rosetta 2 on Apple silicon, and the official interface language is English.
Installation steps
- PhotosBlender 2.0.2 requires macOS 10.14 or later. The channel build is Intel 64-bit, so Apple silicon requires Rosetta 2. Preserve independent copies of source photos. Start with two images of similar pixel dimensions, orientation, resolution and colour space; test horizontal, vertical, zero-overlap joins and several gradient widths. The app trims output to the smallest image width or height, so normalise canvases and protect important subjects first. For a 2D array, save each completed row and then blend those rows vertically, recording order, direction, overlap and format at every stage. Inspect seams, ghosts, exposure and edges at 100%, then test both saved and clipboard output.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, archive all sources, intermediate rows/columns and the final montage rather than retaining only one flattened result. Create a manifest recording file order, horizontal/vertical direction, scaling/cropping, gradient width, overlap, pixel dimensions, colour space and format; calculate SHA-256 for source, intermediate and delivered files. Open final PNG/JPEG/PDF elsewhere and recreate one representative seam from the manifest before removing the app and preferences. Clipboard content is not an archive and must be saved to disk.
Common errors and fixes
- Unexpected cropping normally comes from unequal inputs because output follows the smallest width or height; normalise canvases instead of repeatedly changing the gradient. For double images, reduce overlap and pre-align horizons, eyes or architectural edges. This is gradient joining, not geometric panorama correction. Correct exposure, white balance and curves before blending to avoid tonal seams. Excessively wide gradients and recursive generations soften detail, so keep lossless intermediates and minimise passes. Check orientation and file order when the direction is wrong. Build large arrays row by row to control memory. On Apple silicon confirm Rosetta 2; for save errors check folder permission and free space.
What changed in this version
- The only published note for channel version 2.0.2 is “maintenance update”; no unverifiable fixes or features are added here. Horizontal/vertical gradient blending, adjustable overlap, recursive blended arrays, disk saving and clipboard copy are established capabilities.
