EazyDraw 12.6.0 is a major release introducing the EazyDraw Automation API-a powerful new way to drive EazyDraw from your own scripts, tools, and AI workflows. This update brings closer co-working with iPadOS 26, independent object locking, and advanced machine-readable serialization.

 

The EazyDraw Automation API

EazyDraw can now be driven programmatically via a local, secure lightweight web service. Perfect for batch production, AI-assisted authoring, and connecting EazyDraw to external agents. Write scripts in Python, Shell, or any language to:

• Control Drawings: Open, close, and read complete document structures (layers, graphics, scale).

• Automate Layouts: Place, position, and resize library elements precisely.

• Apply Styles: Programmatically apply fill colors, gradients, vector hatches, dashes, and arrows from your libraries.

• Export on the Fly: Seamlessly export drawings, layers, or single graphics to SVG, PDF, PNG, or JPEG.

Cons

  • It is not parametric CAD/BIM, professional multipage DTP, a photo editor or a large collaborative design system; constraints, assemblies, building information, long-document automation, data merge and realtime teamwork need specialist tools. PDF ungrouping and SVG/DXF round-trips can fragment text, paths, clipping and styles, so scale, fonts, layers, transparency and line weights require receiver-side checks. SVG should not be the only master, while the native format creates app dependency; archives need open exports too. Although local and token-protected, the API adds risks of scripted mis-edits, token leakage, excessive access and mass overwrite; AI does not replace drawing review. Palettes, scaling, attributes and licensing take time to learn.

Installation steps

  1. Before installing EazyDraw 12.6.0, confirm macOS 14.6 or later and reserve space for drawings, fonts, linked bitmaps and exports. Define page size, units, drawing scale, layers, colour mode and delivery format first. For technical work, draw a known calibration length, export DXF/PDF and measure it in the receiving app to catch inch, millimetre or scale mismatches. Ungroup imported PDF/EPS only in a copy, then inspect text, clipping masks, transparency, dashes, arrows and gradients. SVG is useful for interchange, but keep the native drawing as master. If using the Automation API, run it locally, create a private token, restrict script input/output folders and test open, placement, styling and SVG/PDF/PNG/JPEG export on non-confidential copies. Open PDF, DXF and SVG in an independent app, remeasure technical dimensions and inspect text, clipping, transparency, dashes and layers. Convert legacy MacDraw, PICT and AppleWorks/ClarisWorks files with EazyDraw Retro first while keeping originals read-only. Disable the Automation API, revoke or rotate its token, stop scripts/agents that call it, and archive scripts, library-UUID maps, manifests, logs and SHA-256 values without the token. Back up user libraries, templates, keyboard mappings and custom styles before removal.

Common errors and fixes

  1. Wrong DXF/PDF scale: reconcile drawing units, page scale, export units and receiver import options, then measure a calibration line. If ungrouped PDF text or appearance changes, install exact fonts and retain editable and outlined copies; inspect clipping, transparency flattening, gradients and line weights. When SVG round-trips fragment objects or alter styling, keep the native master and validate the delivery copy in its target app. Automation API unauthorized/no response: confirm the local service, private token and whitespace; never disable authentication or expose it publicly. If a script changes wrong objects, restore a copy, use persistent UUIDs, layer scope and a dry-run manifest, then expand from a reviewed sample. For font or print-size errors, use licensed fonts, proof PDF and measure a 100% reference page. Use Retro for legacy formats without overwriting originals.
