Editor-checked details
Recommended for relaxed driving, European road trips, truck customisation and long-term business play. A wheel adds much, but controller/keyboard works. On Apple silicon or older Intel, begin at 100% scaling and short mirror distance. Workflow: reserve 50 GB; back up profile/controls/mod order; record 1.60.1.0s, DLC and SHA-256; run a mod-free short job; test Game Radio/rest/GPS; calibrate wheel; add map DLC; restore mods one by one; test same-version Convoy. Compare American Truck Simulator for North America, Farming Simulator 25 for machinery/business, or Bus Simulator after confirming Mac support.
Pros
- Driving is relaxing yet vehicle length, blind spots, physics, fuel, fatigue and traffic law reward skill. European roads, cities, landmarks, weather and day/night create a long-haul travel atmosphere; job income expands garages, fleets and drivers, linking driving with management. Truck/trailer/interior tuning, wheel support, World of Trucks, Convoy and a vast map/vehicle mod scene give exceptional longevity. Free core updates continue, while map DLC can be chosen by region. English, Simplified/Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean interfaces are official.
Cons
- Many regions, trucks and trailers beyond the base map are paid DLC; a full collection is expensive and far larger than 25 GB. Long motorway hauls can repeat, and hired-driver management is shallow. The 1.60 materials/rest systems invalidate some old mods/guides, while map combinations are load-order sensitive. Recommended Mac specs remain Intel-era discrete-GPU language without an Apple-silicon tier, so start with lower scaling/mirrors. Wheel, pedals, shifter and FFB mapping takes time. World of Trucks, online radio and Convoy depend on networking, and mismatched mods block multiplayer.
Installation steps
- This page covers Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.60.1.0s. Official Mac minimum is Big Sur 11, quad-core 3.3 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Intel HD 630-class graphics with 2 GB VRAM and 25 GB for the base game; recommended is Big Sur 11, quad-core 4.6 GHz, 12 GB, GTX 1660-class 2 GB and 25 GB. Map DLC/mods add substantial storage, so reserve 50 GB. Back up profiles, saves, controls, config, mod load order and DLC; record 1.60.1.0s and SHA-256. First disable mods and use a new/copied profile to test wheel/controller, jobs, GPS, Game Radio, rest, lights/rain and save/load. Restore map, truck and economy mods one by one.
Uninstallation steps
- Finish the current job or park at a safe service area, make a manual save and quit to desktop. Copy profiles, steam_profiles, saves, controls.sii, config.cfg, mod directory/load order, screenshots and DLC list; label 1.60.1.0s, truck, garages, job, World of Trucks state, last time and SHA-256. Offline, use the copy to complete a short job, rest and save again. Disable cloud sync only after quitting and preserve both local/cloud copies during conflict. Do not delete the only profile when uninstalling. After reinstalling, create a mod-free temporary profile and calibrate controls before restoring a copy; never load-and-overwrite with missing map DLC/mods.
Common errors and fixes
- For launch/black screen/low FPS, follow the current Big Sur 11, quad-core/8 GB/HD 630 2-GB minimum rather than the old 10.9 note. Verify space/SHA-256, disable mods/overlays and lower scaling, mirrors, shadows, vegetation and reflections. Older interior/material mods may conflict after 1.60; test DAF NGD/MAN TG3 without mods. For wheel drift or missing FFB, remove duplicate bindings, recalibrate and verify device permissions. Save crashes usually reflect missing map DLC or changed load order; restore the exact mod list. If Game Radio is silent, check music volume, output and network/custom-station files. Rest State and Mandatory Break are separate; ETS2 allows up to 10 driving hours before 9 consecutive rest hours.
What changed in this version
- Version 1.60.1.0s belongs to SCS’s stable 1.60 line. It adds five Game Radio stations and F6 widget options; introduces improved materials first on DAF NGD and MAN TG3; adjusts exposure, contrast and bad-weather lighting; and adds Volvo FH Series 6 roof deflectors/A-pillar aero parts. Job Details shows cargo, weight, destination, income and time, while GPS adds estimated arrival. Rest is split into Rest State and Mandatory Break with selectable sleep/wake times; ETS2 permits 10 driving hours followed by 9 consecutive rest hours. 1.60.1.0s is a maintenance build in this line; later experimental features are excluded.
