A reliable flow: package fonts/links and save a reference PDF in Illustrator/Photoshop; copy sources into read-only input; define expected pages/files per format; trial a complex page to PNG/TIFF and target dimensions; compare text, alpha, edges, ICC and crop; convert in batches and log failures; independently sample first/last/random pages; generate manifest, sizes and SHA-256; approve before release. If layers/vectors or print colour must survive, use native export in Illustrator, Photoshop, Affinity Designer/Publisher or Acrobat. For PDF-only work compare Acrobat/Preview/command-line tools; large automation should use version-controlled logging, checksums and retries.
Pros
- A drag-and-drop interface combines conversion of multiple design/document formats to common bitmaps, per-page extraction and batching without requiring a full Adobe suite—useful for previews, web assets and archival derivatives. Single/multiple-file jobs, long documents and five resize choices reduce repetition. PDF creation from graphics and multi-platform icon creation extend one source set to more deliverables. PNG, TIFF, JPEG, BMP and PSD outputs balance alpha, compatibility, quality and size. The app is small and its low minimum OS broadly serves Intel Macs; Apple-silicon users can evaluate a Rosetta workflow. Cons
- It is a converter, not a full design editor: rasterising AI/EPS/SVG does not preserve editable vectors, and ordinary image output from PSD loses layer, text and smart-object semantics. Complex fonts, spot/CMYK/ICC colour, transparency, masks and linked assets can differ from the authoring application; successful export is not print approval. “No file/page limit” means no UI cap, not unlimited RAM/disk or resilience to damaged files. Batching lacks professional preflight, visual diff, checksums, retry policy and team audit, so users need manifests. The channel’s Intel package may depend on Rosetta on Apple silicon; native status is unconfirmed. Input/output support is directional, not arbitrary two-way conversion. The privacy label is developer-reported and not verified by Apple.
Installation steps
- The site build is Creative Convert 1.4.3; the official minimum is macOS 10.11 and the channel package is labelled Intel 64-bit. Create a test folder containing copies: single/multipage PDFs, layered/transparent PSD, AI/EPS with embedded fonts and clipping masks, SVG, PS, plus JPG/PNG/TIFF/BMP. Validate destination, output format and one of five resize modes with one file before batching. For PDF/AI/EPS/PS/SVG rasterisation, test PNG, TIFF, JPEG/BMP/PSD; verify one output per page, page/file count, pixels, orientation, alpha, colour space, fonts, gradients, shadows and crop box. When building a PDF from images or multi-platform icons, inspect order, page dimensions, icon specifications and duplicates. Never export into the only source directory: use a new version folder and disable accidental overwrite. Compare pre/post manifests and sample first, last and random pages, recording failures. On Apple silicon, confirm Rosetta availability and test launch, drag/drop, a long document and export in a small batch. Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, archive the input manifest, conversion preset, resize choice, output format/destination, failure log, approved outputs and SHA-256. For multipage jobs retain expected pages versus actual file count; for icon/PDF creation retain page/size order. Open a representative output set in independent software to prove it does not depend on Creative Convert. Stop active batches, wait for disk writes and inspect temporary files before quitting. Remove/disable automation that invokes the app; export needed configuration before clearing preferences/container. Uninstalling does not delete sources, generated images/PDFs/icons, cloud versions or backups and cannot restore overwritten names. Before deleting intermediates, use manifests and hashes to confirm a unique master survives; securely remove sensitive test copies under project retention policy.
Common errors and fixes
- If page/file totals differ, note that 1.4.3 fixed total counting but independently reconcile source pages and output manifest; encrypted, damaged, huge-canvas or unusual page-box documents may skip. AI/EPS/SVG conversion is rendering/rasterisation, not editable-vector preservation: missing fonts, linked art, transparency, spot colours, masks and nonstandard effects may change. Embed assets or save a reference PDF in the authoring app. PSD layers are normally flattened in image outputs, so this is not a full PSD migration tool. For black/white transparency, use PNG/TIFF/PSD and inspect alpha; JPEG/BMP cannot preserve it. For colour shifts, verify ICC, RGB/CMYK, bit depth and destination reader using a colour target. Split memory-heavy batches by dimensions/pages, preserve disk space and isolate the bad file. Detect uppercase extensions, duplicate names and overwritten outputs via manifests. If Apple silicon launch fails, check Rosetta and permissions; an Intel package is not a native build.
