Editor-checked details
Recommended for Battlefield-like capture/vehicles, adjustable AI scale and community content in single-player. Begin on a small official map with defaults and 20–30 bots; test infantry and one land/air vehicle, then add only 20 bots at a time. Minimum hardware suits small fights; 8 GB/3 GHz is better beyond 60 bots. Validate Apple silicon unmodded. Safe order: Workshop-ID backup; Build 38.1/SHA-256; official map; restore maps/weapons/vehicles/Mutators by category. Compare Easy Red 2 for tactical squads; choose a native multiplayer shooter for human large-scale PvP.
Pros
- It condenses old-school large-battle capture, vehicles and many AI soldiers into a drop-in single-player game without multiplayer servers. Fight on foot or drive tanks, helicopters, aircraft and boats; active ragdolls make explosions tactically readable and funny. Bot count, team balance, loadouts and victory settings scale from tests to chaos. AI commanding and Conquest add strategic goals. The map editor and Workshop maps, weapons, vehicles and Mutators are its largest source of longevity and can transform the battlefield theme.
Cons
- It is single-player AI warfare, not human online PvP; pathfinding, driving and target selection can be awkward. Deliberately simple visuals/animation, gun feel, campaign narrative and destruction do not match a large commercial shooter. Bot increases rapidly amplify CPU, physics and scripts; 4 GB/HD 4000 suits small battles only. Workshop is also the main fault source: stale dependencies, conflicts and huge maps cause stuck loads, missing materials or crashes. Early Access changes continue. English is the only official interface/subtitle language; these translations are not built in. No Apple-silicon tier exists.
Installation steps
- This page covers Ravenfield Build 38.1 Early Access. English title, description and package agree; the stale Chinese 37.1 title is corrected to 38.1. Official Mac minimum: macOS 10.13, 64-bit 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD 4000 and 1 GB storage. Recommended: current OS X, 64-bit 3 GHz, 8 GB and GTX 750. The package is about 1.95 GB; reserve 8 GB for maps/Workshop. Back up settings, bindings, bot count, loadouts, vehicles, maps, Mutators, Workshop manifest and Conquest progress; record Build 38.1/SHA-256. Unmodded, test infantry, land/air/water vehicles, AI commands, respawn, result and map change before restoring Workshop. No Apple-silicon tier exists; validate legacy Unity, input and high bot counts.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, finish the battle, return to menu, save Conquest/settings and allow cloud sync where applicable. Back up settings, bindings, sensitivity, bot/balance values, loadout, map-editor projects, custom maps, Mutators, vehicle/weapon mods, Workshop IDs and Build 38.1/SHA-256. Record/unsubscribe large mods to avoid a mass reload. Reinstall unmodded on a small official map with 20–30 bots; complete capture, vehicle, respawn and result. Restore by category—maps, weapons, vehicles, Mutators—so failures remain traceable.
Common errors and fixes
- For stuck loading/menu crash, disable the Workshop set without deleting saves; compare an official map, default weapons and no Mutators. Low FPS often combines bot count, corpses/ragdolls, vehicles, explosions and scripted mods. Start at 20–30 bots, then lower view distance, shadows and ragdoll lifetime. Purple materials/no collision usually indicates mod dependency/version trouble. If AI ignores commands, check selected squad, reachable target, navmesh and scripts. Reset input/Steam Input for drift. On Apple silicon, isolate Rosetta/legacy Unity with an unmodded official map. English is the only official interface/subtitle language; five editorial languages do not imply in-game translations.
What changed in this version
- English title, description and DMG identify Build 38.1; the Chinese 37.1 title was stale metadata and is corrected. No public official itemized notes were found for exactly Build 38.1, so weapon/map/vehicle/system changes are not invented and higher builds are excluded. Verifiable scope is Blue-vs-Red single-player AI warfare, infantry and land/air/water vehicles, active ragdolls, hardware-limited combatant count, team-coloured blood, AI commanding, custom maps, Workshop maps/weapons/vehicles/Mutators and Conquest. Validate the Build 38.1 title, official-map battle, AI, vehicles, result and mod toggles.
