Description
In the space-colony simulation game Oxygen Not Included you’ll find that scarcities of oxygen, warmth and sustenance are constant threats to your colony’s survival. Guide colonists through the perils of subterranean asteroid living and watch as their population grows until they’re not simply surviving, but thriving…
Just make sure you don’t forget to breathe.
Build Extensive Bases and Discover What it Takes to Survive :
Everything in your space colony is under your control, from excavation and resource allocation right down to plumbing and power systems. Resources will begin depleting with your first breath, however, so be sure to dig fast if you want to live.
It’s Mind Over Matter with Stress Simulations :
Keep the psychological impact of survival at bay with fun leisure activities, great accommodations and even better food for your colony. Duplicants each have different and potentially destructive ways of reacting to stress, so be sure to always keep them happy. Whatever the cost.
Avoid Boiling with Thermodynamics :
Temperature control is a constant concern in space; too cold and you’ll freeze, too hot and you’ll fry. Keep tabs on ambient environmental temperatures and your colony’s heat production to maintain a nice, cozy atmosphere for your colonists.
Enhance Efficiency through Complex Gas and Liquid Simulations :
Create interlocking pipe systems to swiftly deliver fuel and liquid to critical areas of your base. Plan well and be rewarded as your colony transforms into an imperishable, well-oiled machine.
Take Charge with Power Grid Simulations
Choose from a multitude of power sources including coal, hydrogen, natural gas or just plain old elbow grease. Manage power runoff, circuit overloads and meltdowns to keep your colony running smoothly.
Always Keep Yourself Breathing :
Enter the Oxygen Overlay and watch air moving through your base in real time. Monitor carbon dioxide accumulation and oversee oxygen generation processes to mold your colony i
Editor-checked details
Recommended for engineering simulation, closed resource loops, thermodynamics and long-term colony planning. Start on a basic asteroid, limit population, establish toilets/food/oxygen, then solve heat and sustainable resources; large saves benefit from Apple silicon or newer Intel and 16 GB. Workflow: reserve 8 GB; back up saves/mods/DLC; record 740622 and SHA-256; observe a clean copy for one cycle; check oxygen/heat/grid/pipes/Auto doors; restore DLC; restore mods one by one. Compare RimWorld for narrative colonies, Factorio for automation, or Space Haven for space bases after checking Mac support.
Pros
- Oxygen, CO2, heat, phase changes, pressure, germs, liquids and power interact in one cell simulation, making base layout an engineering puzzle. Duplicant skills, stress and schedules connect survival systems to people management, with a clear progression from toilets/food to cooling, industry, automation and rockets. Almost every resource can be recycled and overlays/data expose failure causes. World seeds and multiple DLC packs add extensive replay value. Intel and Apple silicon can run it; English, Simplified Chinese and Korean are official interface/full-audio languages.
Cons
- Thermodynamics, pipe-bridge priority, phase changes and automation have a steep learning curve, and mistakes can emerge dozens of cycles later. Late-game gas/liquid cells, critters and pathfinding create heavy CPU load; even recommended hardware can slow on enormous bases, while 8 GB suits smaller colonies. Numerous separately paid DLC packs add ecological/rule complexity. Mod updates can break saves or startup. Official language support lists only English, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Russian; Japanese and Traditional Chinese are not fully supported. Random resources and Printing Pod choices vary early difficulty.
Installation steps
- This page covers Oxygen Not Included 740622. Official Mac minimum is macOS 12, dual-core 2 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Intel HD 4600 or equivalent and 3 GB storage; recommended is macOS 14, i7-8700K-class, 16 GB, a 2-GB dedicated GPU and 3 GB. Keep 8 GB free for the site ZIP. Back up saves/autosaves, mod list, world seed and every DLC entitlement; record 740622 and SHA-256. First disable mods and use a copy to check oxygen/CO2, temperature, liquid/gas pipes, grid overload, automatic doors, Duplicant pathing, critter pools, save/load and cycle progression. Restore mods and Aquatic/Spaced Out content one at a time.
Uninstallation steps
- Pause the colony and make a new save outside alarms or rocket flight, then quit after writing completes. Copy manual/autosaves, settings, mods and DLC list; label 740622, cycle, Duplicant count, world seed, colony/DLC, last-save time and SHA-256. Load the copy offline, observe oxygen, temperature, power, pipes and automatic doors for a full cycle, then save again. Disable cloud sync only after quitting and retain both conflict copies. Do not delete the only save while uninstalling. After reinstalling, create/save a mod-free world before restoring a copy; never overwrite with missing DLC/mods and retain pre/post-update generations.
Common errors and fixes
- For launch failure/white screen, follow the current macOS 12 minimum, verify 740622, space/SHA-256 and disable mods/overlays; an older page’s 10.13 is not the current requirement. Eight GB is minimum; late colonies with many Duplicants, critters, gas/liquid cells, automation and pathing benefit from 16 GB, and map-scanning mods should be reduced. 740622 fixes misplaced exhaled CO2, auto doors toggling on load, boundary fish pool detection, inactive Liquid Tepidizer animation, rare pathing crashes near doors/liquids/ladders and large swimmers stuck near solids. If these persist, reproduce on a clean copied save. For blocked pipes check phase, direction and bridge priority; for grid trips check wire wattage.
What changed in this version
- Build 740622 is a U59 Aquatic Planet Pack hotfix. All versions fix exhaled CO2 appearing in the wrong cell, Auto doors toggling after load, pool-boundary fish detection, inactive Liquid Tepidizer animation, a rare pathing crash near doors/liquids/ladders, and large swimmers stuck near solids. Aquatic changes adjust Minnow swimming attributes, Seaquine waste timing and farm-tile waste rules, while fixing Beakon audio performance, Blowter bubbles destroying solids, duplicated Kelpoles, a Beach Chair deconstruction crash and Orehull grooming/water behaviour. It also fixes Spaced Out rocket-port shadows and a Prehistoric Jawbo grooming loop.
