Editor-checked details
Recommended for players who enjoy gentle quests, cartoon characters, collecting and free decoration and prefer building under clear story goals over complex economic management. On each new land, read Travelogue first and collect only the required Essences/Scrolls; build the shortest working contraption, confirm the trigger, then decorate. On Mac, learn right-drag rotation, wheel zoom, Tab tools, Shift duplicate/rotate and T for Travelogue. Safe order: confirm subscription/network; back up Cloud; 1.6/SHA-256; temporary save; camera; building/contraption; travel/quest; save reload; long save. Never skip validation when chip architecture is unspecified.
Pros
- It combines relaxed building with a directed adventure: help King Roland restore the kingdom, complete citizens’ requests across distinct lands, collect Essences and Scrolls, and solve environmental problems with contraptions. Familiar Sims such as Ginny and Buddy take new roles, while land themes vary quests and materials; almost every creation can be visually customized, balancing objectives with personal style. The retro rerelease updates graphics and supports touch, Mac keyboard/mouse and controllers. Apple Arcade has no ads or in-app purchases and supports Game Center, compatible controllers and 12 languages including all five target languages.
Cons
- Apple Arcade subscription and initial connectivity are ongoing access gates; expiry can affect launch, and a channel package cannot remove official service dependencies. Apple lists only macOS 12.0+, with no chip, RAM or graphics detail, so older Intel and early Apple-silicon Macs both need validation. Systems originate in an older console game, so quest structure, NPC behavior, land loading and building precision can feel simple or rigid. Camera control improves in 1.6, but one-finger swipe is mainly touch-focused and Mac still relies on right mouse/arrows with limited zoom. Collection/backtracking repeats, while contraption wiring and object positioning can misfire in dense builds.
Installation steps
- This page covers MySims Kingdom 1.6. Apple requires macOS 12.0+ and lists about 1.8 GB; the App Store names neither Intel nor Apple-silicon architecture, so the source Intel label is not an official guarantee. This is an Apple Arcade release requiring an active subscription and internet for initial access, with Game Center/iCloud progress; compatible PlayStation, Xbox and MFi controllers are supported. Back up cloud progress and record 1.6/SHA-256. Use a temporary kingdom to test movement, right-drag/arrow camera rotation, wheel zoom, Travelogue, building, object duplicate/rotate, travel and save reload.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, leave Build mode, complete the current task step and reach a save-safe state; never force-quit while placing contraptions, travelling, during a cutscene or cloud sync. Confirm Game Center/iCloud sync and record King Roland story, land quests, Scrolls/Essences, contraptions, relationships, Travelogue and settings plus 1.6/SHA-256, Mac/OS and time. After reinstalling and restoring the subscription, compare local/cloud timestamps and use a copy to verify camera, quests, inventory and land state; never overwrite the only cloud progress with a blank game.
Common errors and fixes
- For launch failure, confirm macOS 12.0+, Apple Arcade subscription, network, Apple ID/Game Center, space and permissions; sign out/in once instead of repeatedly creating saves. For Mac camera control, hold right mouse, use left/right arrows to rotate and up/down arrows or wheel to zoom. The 1.6 one-finger swipe improvement primarily concerns touch input and does not replace Mac controls. For an accidental Build deletion/placement, exit without saving and re-enter; Shift modifies Build/duplicate/rotate and Tab cycles tools. If a quest stalls, inspect Travelogue and required Scroll, Essence, contraption connection and NPC dialogue. Copy both sides of a cloud conflict and choose by land/quest plus timestamp.
What changed in this version
- Apple’s official 1.6 note identifies two change groups: improved camera controls with one-finger swipes and general quality-of-life improvements. It does not itemize other bug, quest, building, save, performance or Mac-chip fixes, so none should be expanded. On Mac, validate right-drag and arrow rotation, wheel/arrow zoom, trackpad gesture where applicable, Build mode, Travelogue, land travel, cutscenes and cloud saving, using an old-save copy first.
