Editor-checked details
Recommended for players who enjoy gentle pacing, town decoration, collecting and character interaction, or want a lighter creative Sims experience. Raise town stars first to unlock residents/decorations and gather essences in regional batches. Return to town and wait for a save before major remodeling. Safe order: backup; 1.4/SHA-256; temporary save; camera/building; resident request; autosave/reload; long-term town; Game Center/controller.
Pros
- The struggling-town restoration goal is clear, with broad freedom over buildings, furniture, Sim appearance and the community. Recruiting residents, fulfilling personal requests and collecting essences form a relaxed loop. Updated visuals preserve the bright original style; all five site locales are officially supported, alongside Game Center and controllers. Apple’s privacy label says Data Not Collected.
Cons
- Simulation depth is below the mainline Sims games, and long sessions repeat essence gathering, construction and resident errands. The older interface/build camera takes adjustment; accidental selection while rotating and no clearly documented undo raise the cost of major remodels. Internet and Arcade add account dependency. Apple supplies no Intel/Apple-silicon matrix, so the macOS requirement alone cannot guarantee every Mac.
Installation steps
- This page covers MySims 1.4. Apple’s Mac listing requires macOS 12.0 or later, lists about 838.7 MB, and requires internet plus a valid Apple Arcade entitlement; Game Center and compatible controllers are supported. Back up town-star progress, residents and relationships, quests, lots/buildings, furniture blueprints, essence inventory, Sim appearance and unlocked decorations, then record 1.4 and the installer SHA-256. On first launch verify the Apple ID, Arcade and Game Center, create a temporary save, test one-finger camera swipes, rotation/zoom, building and furniture placement, complete one resident request, wait for autosave and reload after restart before opening the long-term town.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, leave build mode, return to town and wait for autosave/Game Center sync. Do not force-quit while placing a building, claiming a quest reward or showing the save indicator. Record town stars, residents, lots, inventory, blueprints, 1.4/SHA-256 and Apple ID. After reinstalling, use the same account and a temporary save to validate persistence before loading the long-term town. Preserve the only working install and local data while cloud state or Arcade entitlement is uncertain.
Common errors and fixes
- If the town/save looks wrong, stop and compare Apple ID, Game Center, cloud and local timestamps; do not let an empty save overwrite the old one. If camera rotation selects an object, move the pointer away, use a deliberate camera gesture and wait for a save before major edits. Version 1.4 improves one-finger camera swipes but does not promise an undo feature. For blocked placement check footprint, grid collision, required essences and quest phase. For stalled residents/requests check town stars, a suitable home/shop lot and relationship prerequisites. Re-pair an unresponsive controller in macOS and reconnect from the title screen. For endless loading verify internet, Arcade entitlement and free space, then restart.
What changed in this version
- Apple’s official history dates 1.4 to January 28: camera controls now support one-finger swipes, with general quality-of-life improvements. It lists no other specific quest, resident, building, save or performance fix, so none is inferred. Acceptance should cover the displayed version, one-finger camera movement, building/furniture placement, a resident request, autosave and reload.
