Description
World War One expands to the mountains of the Italian Front – beautiful but deadly in equal measure. Take part in key offensives of the Great War, from the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo to the Strafexpedition, and lead your team to victory among the scenic landscapes and peaks of Northern Italy.
Isonzo is a realistic tactical multiplayer FPS crafted by BlackMill Games, known for their critically acclaimed authentic WW1 wargames such as Verdun and Tannenberg. Immerse yourself in faithful recreations of historical battles with intense 48-player matches, testing your tactical skills and mastery of Alpine warfare.
Decide your path to victory: whether you’re leading the offensive with grenades or using mountain trails to flank enemy positions, you have options. Dive into combat or take a supporting role cutting barbed wire and crewing heavy machine guns and mortars.
Thanks to a unique flare gun system, mark targets for artillery strikes or biplane flybys, before charging in to finish the job at close quarters with bayonets or trench clubs.
Choose from six distinct classes and build your loadout from a selection of 50+ iconic WW1 weapons, along with historically accurate equipment and perks specific to each class. Play as a Marksman to pick off soldiers from afar, storm enemy lines with the Assault class, issue tactical orders as an Officer, and much more.
After choosing a class, make it your own by picking from a large variety of role-appropriate uniforms, accessories and headgear. As a finishing touch, you can even pick your mustache from several famous wartime styles!
From hillside fortresses to mountain trenches and city streets, fight through varied Alpine landscapes inspired by historical battles. Learn the lay of the land to maintain cover and surprise your enemies – or go a step further to shape a dynamic battlefield by placing sandbags, barbed wire and ammo crates. Trench periscopes and sniper shields offer even more tactical options, but beware of poisono
Editor-checked details
Recommended for WW1 tactical-shooter players who accept low forgiveness and follow squad/officer pushes. Learn maps as Rifleman or engineering support before taking Officer. Watch artillery markers, gas and MG lanes before advancing; cutting wire or building forward cover often beats a solo charge. Change one graphics option at a time on the same map. Older Intel systems should first lower shadows/resolution scale, while M1/M2 still need thermal headroom. Start online with a moderately populated low-latency server. Safe order: backup; 102.71835/SHA-256; training/bots; Metal/input/audio; online/EOS; Cloud.
Pros
- It turns Italian-front mountains, forts, trenches and towns into a 48-player tactical FPS where elevation, cover and flanking matter more than reflex alone. Six classes and 50+ WW1 weapons cover officer command, assault, marksman, engineering and support. Flare-called artillery/aircraft, mortars, heavy MGs, wire cutting, sandbags and ammo crates let low-kill players contribute. Historical uniforms, equipment, factions and battlefields are distinctive, while bots and single player reduce empty-server dependence. Steam Cloud, achievements and Family Sharing are present; official Mac requirements include M1 and Intel, with English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese UI.
Cons
- Realistic pacing means slow rifles, fast deaths, respawns and long return routes; newcomers who ignore map and officer orders repeatedly die to unseen fire. Linear Offensive maps depend heavily on officers, smoke, construction and coordinated objectives, so one player rarely reverses an unbalanced team. Region/time affects human server population and latency. Artillery, smoke and terrain in 48-player battles stress older Intel Macs, and 4 GB RAM is only a launch floor. Numerous cosmetic DLCs do not change play. Korean and Traditional Chinese UI are absent, and 102.71835 lacks an itemized public changelog that can be verified.
Installation steps
- This page covers Isonzo 102.71835. Steam’s minimum Mac requirements are macOS 10.15.4+, Apple M1 or a 4-core 2.8 GHz Intel CPU, 4 GB RAM, Metal, broadband and 8 GB storage, with SSD recommended. The recommended target is macOS 13, Apple M2 or 6-core 3.7 GHz Intel, 8 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. Back up Steam Cloud, controls, graphics/audio, class loadouts, challenges and achievements, reserve update space, and record 102.71835/SHA-256. First validate movement, aiming, reload, gas mask, wire cutting, construction, mortar/heavy MG and flare gun in training or a bot environment, then join online to check latency, voice and anti-cheat connectivity.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, leave the match for the main menu and wait for loadouts, challenges, achievements and Steam Cloud to sync. Do not force-quit during map change, respawn, unlock or server disconnect. Back up bindings, sensitivity, FOV, graphics, audio/voice, class loadouts, cosmetics and 102.71835/SHA-256, and note the preferred server region. After reinstalling, prevent automatic overwrite, compare cloud/local timestamps and restore a settings copy. Run training/bots first to verify input, Metal rendering, audio and persistence before online play. Preserve a full working copy if the only stable setup depends on an older driver or OS combination.
Common errors and fixes
- For black screen or audio-only launch, verify Metal, 102.71835, free space and requirements, restart the Mac, disconnect extra displays/controllers, and lower resolution or switch window mode. Do not delete cloud saves first. For low FPS, reduce shadows, environment detail and resolution scale, stop background capture and use an SSD; smoke, artillery and 48-player battles stress CPU and GPU together. If servers fail, check broadband, Steam/EOS status, region, system time, firewall and version match, then use bots to separate rendering from network faults. Missing weapons/challenges call for checking class, requirement and completed match results. Korean and Traditional Chinese UI are not official, while English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese are.
What changed in this version
- The site channel build is 102.71835. Current BlackMill/Steam public material does not map that number to a separately itemized official changelog, so announcements, maps or changes from other builds are not misattributed to it. Acceptance is limited to displayed build, six classes/loadouts, Offensive mode, bot/single-player entry, flare artillery/aircraft, mortar and heavy MG, wire/sandbag construction, gas/mask, server browser, challenges/achievements and Steam Cloud. If the channel supplies a developer changelog, it should be added verbatim in scope.
