- It turns local screenshots, images and design references into a fast masonry inspiration library, more browsable than Finder thumbnails. Tags, folders, titles and source URLs aid retrieval, while full-page capture preserves a web reference and its URL. It accepts common bitmap formats plus GIF, PSD, AI and PDF, with video support added earlier. Library ZIP import/export enables offline migration, and the App Store privacy label says the developer collects no data. The native Mac app is responsive; 1.1.9 maintains new-OS/loading stability with Apple-silicon and Intel paths.
Cons
- It is an inspiration collector, not a photo editor, professional DAM or team-review system; it lacks RAW processing, approvals, permissions, audit logs and a rights workflow. Folder hierarchy/library/sync choices are limited and app tags may not be visible in Finder or other tools. There is no dependable watched-folder or multi-device cloud workflow, so manual imports can be missed or duplicated. Browser extensions, dynamic-page capture and Dribbble APIs can change externally. AI/PSD/PDF support is not full rendering/editing. ZIP is the critical migration path, and an untested restore is a data risk.
Installation steps
- Inboard 1.1.9 requires macOS 14.6 or later. Apple-silicon support arrived in 1.1.6 and the current 64-bit app retains an Intel path. Before updating, create an in-app library ZIP and copy it outside the library; images alone may omit folders, tags, titles and source URLs. With 10–20 non-sensitive PNG/JPG/GIF/PSD/AI/PDF files, test import, tags, folders, search, sorting and thumbnails, then export and re-import a ZIP in a temporary location. Full-page capture needs the appropriate browser extension and permissions. Dribbble discontinued the likes API, so only the developer-documented shots sync should be expected. Import large collections in batches while monitoring storage, thumbnail generation and video compatibility.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, export a complete library ZIP plus critical originals and record image, folder, tag and untagged counts. Create a manifest and SHA-256 for the ZIP and key sources. Import the ZIP into another macOS account or temporary library and sample tags, titles, source URLs, GIF/video playback, PSD/AI/PDF previews and original dimensions. Only after recovery succeeds should you remove browser extensions, Dribbble authorisation and app permissions. A Finder-visible image directory is not a complete backup, and the sole library should not be placed on an unverified sync drive. Keep two independent copies before deleting the app and library.
Common errors and fixes
- For launch crashes or blank thumbnails, confirm macOS 14.6+, writable free space and library permissions; duplicate the backup before allowing 1.1.9 to rebuild previews. Missing tags after migration usually means originals were copied without restoring the library ZIP. Never overwrite the current library with a failing ZIP—import into a temporary account and inspect archive integrity and free space. Full-page capture failures require checking the Safari/Chrome/Firefox extension, page permission, dynamic loading and login; split infinite pages. Dribbble likes no longer sync because its API ended. AI/PSD/PDF support may be preview/import only, not editing. For large-library stalls, batch imports and wait for indexing. Duplicates and source rights still require manual management.
What changed in this version
- Published 1.1.9 changes are Tahoe/Sequoia compatibility fixes, improved image-loading performance and stability, and a new app icon. It does not claim a new library model, cloud sync or editor. Apple-silicon support belongs to 1.1.6; Ventura/loading work to 1.1.7; video, Catalina, backup restoration and the Dribbble likes-to-shots change to 1.1.5. Masonry, tags/folders, ZIP import/export, webpage capture and format previews already existed and are not labelled new. After upgrading, compare item/tag counts and perform a real ZIP restore.
