- Hardware and storage demands are severe: minimum is M1/16 GB, macOS 15.5 and SSD, while the App Store build is about 159 GB; Intel and HDD are unusable. The minimum tier targets about 30 FPS, and high resolution, ray tracing or external displays can sharply reduce performance and increase heat. A large open world can still expose NPC, vehicle, quest-state or mod-compatibility faults, so preserve saves around patches. Perks, cyberware and gear have a learning curve. Strong violence, gore, nudity, sexual material and flashing visual effects are unsuitable for some players.

Uninstallation steps
- Make a manual save in a safe location and wait for cloud sync. Copy local saves, settings, screenshots and crash logs, labelled with 2.31, character/quest, Phantom Liberty, mods, last-save time and SHA-256. Load the copy offline and test driving, combat, fast travel and another save. Pause cross-progression before resolving conflicts; never overwrite the only newer save with an older cloud copy. For diagnosis, remove mods and rename configuration/shader cache rather than deleting saves. Uninstalling does not revoke store ownership or DLC, but mod remnants need separate cleanup. After reinstalling, verify quests, vehicles, inventory, AutoDrive and Photo Mode without mods, retaining two backup generations.
Common errors and fixes
- For launch failure, crashes or low FPS, confirm M1+/16 GB, macOS 15.5+, SSD headroom and SHA-256, disable mods/overlays, use “For This Mac” and lower resolution; ray tracing is not enabled by the official default. A permanent white screen entering the braindance with Frame Generation is a 2.31 Mac fix, so verify the build and remove conflicting mods. HDR being disabled by Defaults, inverted background mute, stale spatial-audio wording and excessive Screen Space Reflections are also Mac-specific 2.31 fixes; reset video settings and retest. For rough AutoDrive, verify the destination and 2.31; Free Roam follows traffic rules. For Motorbreath/Freedom, Delamain messages or Semimaru faults, retry from a pre-quest copy.
What changed in this version
- Patch 2.31 upgrades AutoDrive: point-to-point driving is smoother, overtakes blockers and no longer stops at lights, while Free Roam follows traffic rules more reliably. Photo Mode extends most 2.3 poses to any gender, disables NPC collision and fixes Royce poses. It fixes Freedom journal text, several Motorbreath message/chase/Semimaru conditions, and Nitro crashes/UI. Localization, lipsync, Delamain texts and vendors are corrected, with a vignette toggle added. Mac fixes cover ray-traced reflections, preset SSR, the Frame Generation braindance white screen, Defaults disabling HDR, inverted background mute, spatial-audio wording, an App Store breach-screen hang, plus stability and performance.
