Description
Tennis Elbow 4 is the successor of Tennis Elbow 2013, acclaimed by many Steam reviewers as the most realistic tennis simulation ever.
TE4 pushes even deeper the realism of the tennis rallies by providing completely rehauled ball, strike & player physics.
Created by and for tennis fans, Tennis Elbow 4 is a tennis simulation with an easy and intuitive learning curve, but with exceptional gameplay depth.
In this tennis game, you’ll have to show all your tactical skills, use an iron mind and quick reflexes, as well as a sharp eye to guess the ball trajectories, all of this to choose your next strike wisely.
To beat your opponent, you have the choice between all the possible strikes on a real court, from the safe strike to the acceleration, including the drop shot and the topspin lob.
Because of its numerous difficulty levels, this tennis simulation is designed for all tennis lovers, whether gamepad mashers or keyboard novices. In addition, a visual help system will assist you in aiming the ball and positioning your player. You can turn these options on and off whenever it suits you.
TE4 features one of the most complete World Tour ever made in a tennis video game. With over 3500 players evolving over several decades competing in more than 400 tournaments each year, from the low-rank Junior tournament qualifications to the top-level Pro event finals, both in singles and doubles competition, you’ll feel like diving into a real professional tennis player career.
The Tennis Elbow game engine is very open to modifications and a few mods are already available on Mana Games’ forums.
Features :
• 9 different court surfaces : clay, green clay, grass, hard, blue-green hard, classic synthetic, NewLine synthetic, indoor hard and indoor synthetic; each with a specific rebound
• 21 Stadiums around the world
• 400+ tournaments, with 3500+ players evolving over 70 years, from 1973 for men & 1983 for women, to 2042
• Commentaries by Tennis TV commentator Darren Kilfara
Editor-checked details
Recommended for tennis players who value realistic rallies, early positioning and shot choice over spectacle and will practice. Begin with aiming preview, Auto-Positioning and Footwork Boost on medium-low difficulty and hard court; once stable, lower one assist at a time, then learn acceleration, slice, drop and net play. Use shorter World Tour formats before a long career. Mac graphics should meet UHD 620-class at least; Apple silicon needs demo/clean testing because no tier exists. Before online play determine whether hosting can avoid CGNAT, otherwise join. Safe order: dual backup; 2026.07.06/SHA-256; clean short set; two surfaces; P2P join/host; restore mods.
Pros
- Ball physics, positioning and inertia reward reading the incoming shot early rather than last-second directional input. Safe, accelerated, spin, slice, drop, lob, volley and smash strokes have clear risk/reward, and nine surfaces change rally tempo. Assists plus six difficulties with ten sublevels move gradually from accessible to exacting. World Tour spans decades with 3,500+ players and 400+ yearly events across men/women singles/doubles. Local, LAN, online, split-screen, Remote Play Together and cross-platform options are broad. The open engine supports player, tournament, court, outfit and animation mods. All five target languages have official interfaces.
Cons
- Realism lowers forgiveness: late positioning, poor preparation or repeated high-risk acceleration causes errors, requiring arcade-tennis players to relearn rhythm. World Tour data/options make early menus dense. Mac examples use older Intel iMacs/discrete GPUs with no Apple-silicon tier; low-end integrated graphics are unsupported and HD5000 may reach only 40–50 FPS at minimum. Relay-free P2P means CGNAT or blocked UDP forwarding/UPnP prevents reliable hosting. Four-human doubles has topology limits. Deep mods can overwrite databases/animations and break saves or behavior after updates. Visuals are functional; physics rather than presentation is the main value.
Installation steps
- This page covers Tennis Elbow 4 2026.07.06. Official Mac minimums are macOS 10.13+, Intel iMac 1.5 GHz, GTX 280/UHD 620/Radeon HD 5750-class graphics and 4 GB storage; Intel iMac 3 GHz with GTX 1060/R9 390 is recommended. Low-end integrated GPUs are unsupported and there is no Apple-silicon tier. Back up World Tour, career players, match options, controller/keyboard mappings, camera, assists/difficulty, replays, online profile and Mods folder, then record 2026.07.06/SHA-256. In a clean exhibition, test serve, safe/accelerated/topspin/slice/drop/lob/volley/smash strokes, surface rebound and save/reload, then create a short World Tour.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, finish the point, return to match/tour menus, save World Tour separately and leave online rooms. Back up attributes/rank/schedule/fatigue, controls/auto-positioning, camera, difficulty, rules, replays, custom/downloaded courts, outfits, animations, audio, player/tournament databases, online name and 2026.07.06/SHA-256; do not treat the entire Modding SDK as a mod backup. Keep user data when removing the app. Reinstall with every mod disabled, play a short set on two surfaces with default players and verify input, positioning, strokes, score, save and replay, then restore courts, visuals, animations and databases individually.
Common errors and fixes
- Frequent nets/outs are not only button errors: check preparation time, positioning, inertia, stamina, stroke, risk and aiming preview; a late acceleration is less forgiving than a safe ball. Reduce Auto-Positioning/Footwork Boost progressively instead of removing every assist. For controller drift/duplicate input remove duplicate remappers and connect before launch. Low FPS calls for UHD 620-class minimum checks and lower crowd, shadows and resolution; HD5000 may deliver only about 40–50 FPS at minimum. Hosting can fail because P2P has no relay and CGNAT/UDP/UPnP blocks inbound traffic; CGNAT users can usually join. Four-human doubles works on one computer or two computers with two each, not four separate computers. For mod issues use Show Data Folder and disable the relevant files. All five languages have official interfaces.
What changed in this version
- The site build is dated 2026.07.06. No public official itemized notes were found for that exact date build, so fixes are not invented and higher builds are excluded. Verifiable scope includes rebuilt ball/stroke/player physics; anticipation, positioning, inertia and risk; safe, accelerated, topspin, slice, drop, lob, volley and smash strokes; nine rebound surfaces, 21 stadiums, 3,500+ players, 400+ events yearly, men/women singles/doubles, six difficulties with ten sublevels, seven cameras, day/night, LAN/online/split-screen and open modding. Validate displayed 2026.07.06, clean short set, two surfaces, World Tour and saved replay.
