Editor-checked details
Recommended for Zelda-style exploration, action RPG combat, sailing and techno-fantasy. Follow the main path until core traversal and Stream of Creation unlock, then clear nearby side quests instead of crossing the sea repeatedly. Observe boss cycles and use equipment/skills to cover weaknesses. First-person view helps inspect mechanisms, while third-person is steadier for movement/combat. Before 2.0.0 content, confirm Uriel is defeated and back up the save. Safe order: backup; 2.0.0/SHA-256; OS/chip; language; input; fresh save; sail/glide; combat/reconstruction; Game Center; new island/dungeons; cloud sync.
Pros
- A self-contained story welcomes newcomers while the near-thousand-year jump from Oceanhorn 2 rewards returning players. Sailing, gliding, swimming, first-person inspection and Stream of Creation reconstruction extend exploration across sea, land and air. Combat combines equipment, skill-tree investment and resources, with giant Titans supplying spectacle. Side quests, puzzles and collectibles deepen the Shadow Sea and Gaia. Version 2.0.0 adds another island, two major dungeons and a quest arc. Fifteen languages, controllers, Game Center and cross-Apple-device cloud continuation suit long Mac sessions.
Cons
- As a high-fidelity Apple Arcade action RPG, 3.9 GB is only download size; cache plus long sessions add memory, heat and battery pressure, and older Intel Macs need lower graphics. Islands, dungeons, side quests and collectibles create a long objective list that can obscure priorities. Cross-device cloud saves risk overwrite when versions differ. Combat, equipment and skills are substantial, but the world is not completely unrestricted and some areas remain story/ability gated. The 9+ rating includes fantasy violence and weapons. Apple Arcade is the official access requirement, and the privacy label permits usage data not linked to identity.
Installation steps
- This page covers channel version 2.0.0. Official requirements are macOS 12.0+ and about 3.9 GB. The FAQ also lists the latest Intel Mac and all Apple Arcade-compatible devices, so validate Intel and M1/M2/M3/M4 on their actual architecture. Leave room for cache/saves and record SHA-256. With a fresh game, test keyboard/controller, third-/first-person views, sailing, gliding, swimming, tactical combat, weapons/equipment, skill tree, Stream of Creation reconstruction, puzzles, Game Center, leaderboards and cloud progress. Fifteen official languages include Simplified/Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Update every device to 2.0.0 before cross-device continuation.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, reach a safe point and allow local plus Game Center/cloud writes to finish. Do not force-quit during sea/map transitions, dungeon entry, boss results, reconstruction or a save indicator. Back up saves, the 2.0.0 installer, SHA-256, graphics and input settings. After reinstalling, use a fresh save to verify movement, combat, Stream of Creation, sailing and one save before signing into cloud. Confirm timestamps and matching device versions before restoring the main save, preventing an old device from overwriting islands, quests or equipment.
Common errors and fixes
- For black screens, stutter or heat, confirm macOS 12.0+, 2.0.0 and file integrity, close background apps, then lower resolution, shadows and effects. Watch for thermal throttling on M1–M4; start at medium/low on Intel. If keyboard/mouse is ignored, confirm input mode and connect a controller before launch; restore camera defaults for inversion faults. Missing cross-device progress usually means mismatched versions or unfinished cloud sync—do not save on the older device. If island/quest markers vanish, retest a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting it. Underwater routes, glide landings and Stream reconstruction are often puzzle conditions, not bugs. Persistent issues should go to oceanhorn.com/support.
What changed in this version
- Official 2.0.0 “Between the Realms” begins the Hand of the Savior – Part 1 quest after Uriel is defeated. It adds Devil’s Cradle island, two major dungeons—Temple of Broken Wills and Basilica of the Savior—the Cybernetic Parasite enemy and collectible Warlock Keys. Players can obtain the last Mystery Machine part and repair the machine in Red Town. Validate quest trigger, island, both dungeons, keys, machine part/repair and inherited saves.
