Editor-checked details
Recommended for low-pressure story farming, animal companionship and parent-child local co-op—not for complex agricultural economics or offline preservation. In week one, grow only fast crops required by quests, keep reserve seed, feed and crafting materials, and do not spend all coins on furniture. Combine main story, animal care and nearby villager errands into one daily route. Put skill points into the farming or crafting activity you actually repeat. Before co-op, let the main player save and enter the farm, then connect controller two. Safe order: confirm continuous internet/macOS; dual backup; 1.13.15686/SHA-256; online fresh save; crops/animals/quest; co-op join; old save reload.
Pros
- It gives the farming loop a relaxed story direction: restoring a grandparent’s farm, following clues and helping villagers keep planting, foraging and crafting purposeful. Chickens, cows, alpacas, rare breeds and a traveling pet feel more personal than rows of production machines. Skill choices favor crafting, farming or other styles, while furniture, clothing and farm appearance support collecting. The full game explicitly has no microtransactions; extra cosmetics are optional DLC. Local co-op lets player two help as the pet through the whole story, fitting family play. English and Simplified Chinese have official interfaces/subtitles, and full controller support suits a living room.
Cons
- A single-player farm still requires internet, so server, account or network faults can block entry and synchronization, creating a long-term preservation risk. Planting, watering, foraging, errands and friendship are deliberately light; players seeking a complex economy, seasonal pressure or deep automation may find it shallow. Guided quests leave less open planning and production-chain depth than hardcore farm simulations. Player two is a helper pet, not an equal character with full progression. Mac architecture remains unspecified, so Apple Silicon is not guaranteed. Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese lack official interfaces; site translations do not replace localization.
Installation steps
- This page covers Big Farm Story 1.13.15686. Official Mac minimums are macOS High Sierra 10.13, a 2 GHz dual core, 2 GB RAM, 512 MB graphics memory and about 1 GB storage, with a continuous broadband connection required. Intel, native Apple Silicon and Rosetta status are not stated officially. Back up farm progress, quests, skills, crops, animals and rare breeds, furniture, inventory, relationships, pet, DLC and controls, then record 1.13.15686/SHA-256. Online, use a fresh save to plant, water, harvest, craft, feed an animal, accept a villager quest and reload. For local co-op, connect a second controller and verify player one controls the farmer while player two controls the helper pet.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, return to a safe farm location, finish dialogue, crafting, purchase and co-op sessions, and wait for server synchronization. Never force-quit while offline or while the sync indicator remains. Rotate two backups and record level, main/side quests, skill points, field crops, animals/breeds, storage, coins, house layout, relationships, DLC and 1.13.15686/SHA-256. After reinstalling, go online with a temporary save and validate account/server, planting, inventory, quests and save/load before restoring old progress. If DLC furniture or animals are absent, verify entitlement and do not overwrite the only save in that state.
Common errors and fixes
- If login or progress synchronization fails, verify continuous internet, system clock, account state and firewall, then reconnect from the main menu; do not repeatedly save an offline copy. Crops that do not grow may be season/quest gated or lack planting, watering or time progression. For animal output, check feed, interaction, housing and story stage. A grey recipe usually lacks materials, skill level, station or prerequisite quest. If player two cannot join, enter the farm with keyboard/main controller, connect a compatible second controller and join at the co-op prompt. Official support is shared/split-screen local co-op, not arbitrary remote-server co-op. For black screen/stutter, lower resolution, remove extra controllers and restart online. Apple Silicon faults do not prove support.
What changed in this version
- The site labels build 1.13.15686. No official itemized announcement matching this internal build number was found, so fixes or additions are not invented. Verifiable full-release scope includes a complete farming story without microtransactions, crops and crafting, chickens/cows/alpacas and rare breeds, pets, villager relationships and quests, house decoration, skills, exploration/foraging, local two-player co-op, full controller support, achievements and optional DLC. Internet is required. Acceptance covers displayed 1.13.15686, an online fresh save, planting/harvest/crafting, animals, a quest, second-controller join and save reload. No higher version is shown.
