Installation steps
- Audition 25.6 needs at least 8 GB RAM, 8 GB installation space and a 1920×1080 display. It runs natively on Apple silicon, with 16 GB unified memory recommended; Intel Macs require a 6th-generation or newer AVX2-capable CPU. Adobe states that Audition 25.4 and later do not support macOS Monterey 12, so confirm that Creative Cloud offers v25.6 for the installed macOS before upgrading. Install and activate through Creative Cloud. Keep the app/cache on a fast internal SSD and sessions, recordings and video media on another reliable high-speed drive. In Audio Hardware, select the input/output device, sample rate, I/O buffer and clock source before creating a delivery-appropriate session such as 48 kHz/24-bit. Rescan AU/VST3 plug-ins and validate each for native Apple-silicon support. Keep Premiere and Audition on matching major versions for round trips.
Uninstallation steps
- Before uninstalling, back up `.sesx` sessions, every external audio/video asset, recordings, mixdowns, Favorites, effect racks, workspaces, keyboard shortcuts, batch settings, plug-ins and audio-hardware configuration. A `.sesx` stores edits and media references rather than embedding every source file; use Copy Session to New and include associated files, then verify the copy from another location. Uninstall through Creative Cloud rather than deleting the app bundle. For a troubleshooting reinstall, retain copies of third-party plug-ins and preferences, start once with clean preferences, then restore plug-ins in small groups. Remove old cache only after recording, playback, mixdown and export pass.
Common errors and fixes
- For no sound, failed recording or wrong channels, reselect the device under Audio Hardware and Audio Channel Mapping, allow macOS microphone access, and align the interface clock, sample rate and session. Bluetooth headphones are unsuitable for low-latency monitoring. For clicks, latency or dropouts, increase the I/O buffer, freeze/pre-render heavy effects, disable suspect AU/VST3 plug-ins and avoid combining devices on unsynchronized clocks. If launch or plug-in scan crashes, reset preferences, bypass third-party plug-ins, then restore them in groups using native Apple-silicon builds; Adobe audio/video apps no longer support Rosetta from v24. DeClicker can crash on 192 kHz files, so Adobe advises converting to a lower sample rate first. If Premiere's Edit in Audition wrongly requests the latest version, acknowledge the dialog or import the `.prproj` directly. Before export check for destructive Waveform edits, loudness, true peak, channel layout, head/tail silence, metadata and target-player playback.
What changed in this version
- Audition 25.6 (November 2025) is primarily a reliability release. Batch Process no longer asserts when Run is selected after disabling Include markers and other metadata; deleting imported HEVC media no longer crashes when a preview is unavailable; Link Media can reconnect extracted stereo channels without an assert; canceling the link-file dialog no longer removes the item from the Files panel; and multi-file MP3 Batch Process crashes are fixed. Feature changes are limited, so the practical reason to upgrade is stability rather than a redesigned workflow.
